Seiko SilverWave 6306-806A - Rare Automatic Caliber SilverWave.
The Seiko SilverWave is one of the brand's most interesting and lesser-known series produced in the 1970s. While various SilverWave models are available on the market today, it's truly rare to see a SilverWave equipped with the automatic 6306 caliber. The 6306-806A is one of the most unique examples, combining both this movement and the SilverWave signature in the same case.
The SilverWave family is Seiko's first model line to embrace the idea of producing watches suitable for light diving. Therefore, like most SilverWaves, the 6306-806A is equipped with a screw-down crown and a secure screw-back caseback. These features were considered a significant leap forward in water resistance and engineering for its time.
There's also a very subtle detail about this reference: if you look at models with the 52xx "Special" caliber family, you'll usually see the word "Special" above the 6 index. However, Seiko removed this wording from the SilverWave versions. This move, likely made to simplify the dial and make room for the SilverWave logo, demonstrates the brand's emphasis on typographic balance and design simplicity at the time.
The clean white dial, Arabic numeral index alignment, and yellow second hand make this watch special not only technically but also aesthetically. The example in the photos is from 1977. It is sold with its original steel bracelet, additional black leather strap, and carrying case.
