Omega De Ville Île de France Ref. 195.0050 - Cal. 1378
On the white dial of this De Ville, small gold-colored dots form a secondary rectangular outline. The hour markers are positioned outside this boundary, while two slender hands move across a spacious, open expanse. The elegance of the 195.0050 lies not in leaving the dial entirely blank, but in the precise placement of a select few details.

This model belongs to Omega’s De Ville "Île de France" collection from the 1980s; this specific piece dates to 1988. Elongated, linear markers at the 12 and 6 o'clock positions define the vertical axis. The other gold-toned markers are kept smaller, ensuring the viewer’s focus remains on the two central hands. There is no date window or second hand. The "Omega" and "De Ville" inscriptions are spaced apart, preserving the serene, uncluttered quality of the white dial.
Beneath this aesthetic lies the 8-jewel Omega Calibre 1378. Based on the ETA 210.001, this quartz movement measures just 0.98 mm in height a technical detail that explains how such an exceptionally slim case could be crafted. The absence of a second hand is a direct reflection of this two-hand movement.
The case, which is approximately 26 mm wide, measures 35.5 mm from lug tip to lug tip. The edges of the gold-toned upper section taper gracefully toward the strap. When viewed from the side, the layer between the case and the stainless steel case back is clearly visible. This two-tone construction ensures that the 195.0050 is as recognizable from its profile as it is from the front.
A sapphire crystal is another technical detail of this slim case. The small crown bearing the Omega logo along with a brown patterned strap and an Omega-signed buckle, completes the watch’s restrained design.
Turning the watch over, the simplicity of the front gives way to a large "De Ville Quartz" emblem at the center of the case back. This particular piece is, overall, very well-preserved. The white dial, the printed markers, and the gold-tone case all appear clean; there are some faint, hairline scratches on the case back, visible only upon close inspection. The burgundy Omega presentation box shown in the photographs is included with the watch.
Final Thoughts
In this 1988 De Ville, "slimness" refers not merely to the dimensions of the case, but to the very philosophy of its design. The dotted inner minute track, the clean dial with its two-hand configuration, the layered case construction—reminiscent of the *Île de France* style—and the 0.98 mm-thin Calibre 1378 all serve a single purpose: to ensure the watch feels as light as possible while remaining a distinct Omega timepiece on the wrist.
