When the original owner purchased this watch in Japan in 1996, they were acquiring more than just a Mickey Mouse timepiece. ALBA presented it as part of a 3,000-piece limited edition collection, complete with a wooden "Limited Collections" box, a special certificate, documentation, and its own unique serial number.

What makes this particular example fascinating after nearly thirty years is that the original presentation remains almost entirely intact.
To this day, unit No. 2909/3000 comes with its wooden box, outer cardboard sleeve, Certificate of Authenticity, Y204 instruction manual, ALBA documentation, original tag (marked ACAM001 / ¥28,000), spare strap, and the protective plastic films still on the watch. The tag price of ¥28,000 corresponded to a retail price of ¥30,800 once Japan's 10% consumption tax was applied.
The watch itself is certainly not overshadowed by such an extraordinary presentation. Instead of simply printing Mickey Mouse onto a standard dial, ALBA integrated him into the very mechanism of time-telling. There are no traditional hour or minute hands; instead, rotating discs display the time through a small, asymmetrical window on the brushed steel surface—positioned right next to Mickey—while a red indicator provides the only bold splash of color in this otherwise almost entirely monochrome design.
Even more intriguing is the fact that, beneath it all, lies not a quartz movement, but the Y204—a 21-jewel, hand-wound mechanical caliber. In other words, while the watch appears from the outside like an experimental design object from the 1990s, it houses a traditional movement brought to life via the winding crown with every use.
ALBA didn't neglect the case back, either. Through the transparent section, the movement is visible, and the Mickey figure appears here for a second time. The character—part of the time-display design on the front—reappears atop the movement when you turn the watch over.
And then there is the box.
The wooden box, featuring the crowned Mickey emblem and the "Limited Collections ALBA" mark, was not created merely to store the watch; it is also a mechanical music box. When activated, it plays the melody "Someday My Prince Will Come" from Disney's *Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs*. Thus, the watch, the box, and the Disney character become three distinct elements of a unified collector's concept.
From the "SEIKO CALF" stamp on the black leather strap to the Limited Collections documentation, and from the serial number to the price tag, we have more than just the Y204-5000 model itself today; much of the original presentation material from 1996 has also survived alongside the watch.
